i feel that i should post something… today, tomorrow, yesterday… and allot more than I have been… but alas.

i have a copy pasta i need to post here… so i will at the end, but first i want to talk about so goings on for me… well a little, nothing 2 mind blowing… i hope.

as i am sure i have mentioned before i is leaving for my mission very soon (currently like 2 days…) and things are a little… strange. i really don’t know what to expect. i am LDS but as far as i go mormons (as we are generally refered) divide up pretty nicely into 2 categorys, those being ignorant and not ignorant. i don’t mean to be… mean, but it is true… not in the sense that they lake knowledge but rather understanding… of anything. and i think in the broader terms all humanity can be broken down like this… it is just VERY noticable in mormon culture. those that are ignorant tend to veiw the rules set in place in very strange, or pehaps it is better to say, more interpeted ways. the very big huge example that i tend to use again and again is the whole caffiene, coffee thing. there are those that would say that the law is not to drink any caffinated beverage, that it is the caffeine that is the problem. however with just a little bit of understanding it is clear that the law “consume no hot beverage” was intended to be a health benifit for the people who where drinking hot drinks like water. it is the ‘hot’ part that is the problem, however in todays age we have interpereted it as being tea and coffee (because those were the drinks that they were drinking, and destroying their tounges on) because both coffee and tea have cafeine… well i think it is pretty obvious, where that goes. it isn’t to say that their “wrong” but don’t tell me not to drink my pepsi. i sure did go further with that then i originally intended… back to the point. while on my mission, i KNOW just about every other missionary i come into contact with is going to be one of those “i know everything blah blah blah” when in reality they know nothing of the work of God. it will just be a little annoying im sure, but i hope to make the best of that by freaking them out with my gift to discern… which they would tell me is only a gift of the spirit given to bishops. also i could totally be like Joesph Smith was just a man, oh ya… and so was Jesus. and you shouldn’t pray to Jesus, and 90% of the time you say Lord or Christ, you mean to say Heavenly Father or God. because in reality, if Jesus didn’t do the things nessicary then someone else would have. seriously that little thing e to Christians might seem blasphomas, and it would seem just as blasphomas to Mormons… only it isn’t because, Jesus and God are 2 seperate and distinct beings. and God chose Jesus OVER LUCIFER because Jesus didn’t want the glory, he wanted it to go to God.

anyway… (i hope not everyone ran away…) in other news…

my website is coming allong… and by coming along i mean i basicly scraped the old layout and remade it… with pastels… it looks sharp. i also added some content… and changed the number of news on the front to 5 as it makes for less scrolling. the About and Contact sections are done all the way so ya, it is cool. i don’t know how much more content i will put presently, if any, as there is, “not enough time!” (tom knows where that comes from…) um… ya. copy paste time

Never Knows Best

just a short post to reveal a little more about me…

there are times in my life that i which that i smoked and had a black knee long trench coat, and a wide brimed hat.
cuz there are times that i feel the only thing that i can do is go out in the rain at night in a city and smoke a pack. a sort of desperate, well there is nothing i can do, plea. i make do with imagining that i am that guy doing that, but it isn’t the same… but it almost is. my imagination is nearly perfect, it’s a gift… and a curse. because somethimes i don’t know if what i feel is real or imagined… if infact i am angry or just imagining i am angry. i doubt many people understand the sentimate. but surely if anyman was worse off then me it was walter mitty… or perhaps im the worse off.

I had an interesting conversation the other day; you know the kind that starts out about video games then takes an abrupt turn to philosophy. these are my favorite kinds of discussions, because it allows me to really be myself for a change, no longer hiding behind my daily mask. Me and my friend began to talk about the degradadtion of values in sosiety. in order to really understand however you need know where i (and my friend also) are coming from, the best and simplest way to really explain it is with a theoretical Hitler question (&B4 godwin’s law) the question is as follows: If Hitler had never been born, would some other individual done the same or a similar thing at the time?

there of course many answers to this question (and you thought there was only 2) but coming from a sociological standpoint the answer has to be YES. someone else would have done it because it was what was necessary in order for the world to move on, this doesn’t mean the time frame would be the same, hell it could have taken another 50-100 years but it WOULD HAVE STILL HAPPENED. (oh and if you are completely oblivious as to what ‘IT’ is look up “holocaust”, i assume that you aren’t like 10…).

now if you assume that this is fact then one must make the claim that the individual is in no respect part of the sosiety, or rather, they are independant of each other. meaning that if a ‘hitler’ is needed a ‘hitler’ will be made. this kind of thinking may seem strange, as each person would tell you that they have control of their actions and that they don’t follow orders from The Man, it is however upon observation a fact that this kind of society consiousness exisits, and operates free of individual form.

so what does this all mean. simply that we are a function of society. we operate within the rule set we are raised with and follow the parameters we are given. if we feel that we aren’t following it think again. you are simply following some parameter that told you to diverge, divergence from the norm is important to the norm as well. Society is dictating that it is good to lose your morals, to drink and have free sex, not to worry about consequnces. what can YOU do to stop this slippery slope? nothing, as we have already established, sosiety will operate independant of the individual, even if there are alot of them, they don’t matter until they begin to dictate the ruleset. i believe that this will happen, sooner than we would expect. soon sosiety will either destroy it self or almost destroy itself in its search of moral decay, and it will be those individuals who realize the path that was inplace and modifyed their params to be pro-moral, that will then have the chance to change the world.

FFR is new and stuff

well i have a story to convey… it was along time ago, and in retrospect it was probably a far smaller deal than it blew-up into. I’ve been a member at FFR for quite a long time now, and a frequent about a year before i actually signed up. i find the game simply amazing. it is fun and addictive. well over the years i continued to play the game faithfully and progressed in my power a it went along (i realized this week that after not playing in a month, my fingers have atrophied… and now i suck, but i digress.) about a year and a half ago i had a brilliant idea. why not make a program that can play FFR, it would be a pretty sweet project. im not sure what spured the idea but i do know i had it… well i was doing reasearch on the subject, trying to develop a model for how the program would work. the original idea was always to play the game the same we do, looking at the screen and pushing the key at the right time. but some how… im not sure how or why, i found where the song levels were stored (i think i ripped apart the, then a.swf (now ffranotherway.swf). after a little poking i found that inside the level files (which are swfs) there is an array that has a frame and letter (now-days they also got a color) so i went the easy route, use the array and just push the right dirrection on the right frame. it was pretty good, if you started it right. now about this time we (me and death who was also helping, (probably more than me…)) were testing the app and getting VERY high scores… i mean AAA ing songs that are pretty impossible. “nitrocorp” started to show up on the top ten lists alot, and people just thought that i was an up and coming awesome player. well, then i flubbed. apparently no one has has gotten a FC on Molto (malto, hellifiknow) vivace or something, and i did. well it was a FULL COMBO… it was just in order to get the horrible jacks in the song i started it early. so it was like 100-6000-20 as any leet player will tell you that in order to do this you need HELLA good PA and bee off… the whole song, sorta like a script starting early (imagine that…). well i got called out. it was pretty cool. i combated the system in heated debate, and lost. at least they found that i wasn’t hacking the site or something, because i was doing whatever it was in real time. apparently my project caught the eye of SYNTHLIGHT HIM SELF. it was pretty cool. we chated about it for a few hours, and i told him everything i knew and he said he would take action on the important problems.

immediately following this they implemented the new ffranotherway.swf. this swf was able to do voodoo magic because of pacts with the devil. upon opening it a random series of null ifs was all that was in the action script… i was for several months considering breaking what ever magic they were using but dismissed the idea as a hopeless endeavor.

work continued on FFRBOT, now it doesn’t use the array at all, only screen detection. it works *okay* i can outpreform it (could before… ) most of the time as i can get a higher combo, but it does consistently have an AWESOME PA (when it decides to hit the arrows… (damn those colored arrows…).

so why bring this stuff up atall… is it because my history is so amusing? probably not. the reason is this. FFR just updated like a week ago. and when they compiled it they forgot to import VOODOO.php so now i have ffranotherway.fla , and i have my very own version of the ffr database as well as almost all the songs on a server. i plan to reconstruct it on my site. ill put another post when it is workable… ish.

Change…

has it been a that long? wow…

i like logged in and like the wordpress interface is like really updated. i kinda like it. it is cool (meaning mellow or relaxed) with a web 2.0 feel. i really don’t like only that the dashboard is really all encompassing. it may sound weird to say it (seeing as i am pretty new) but i was used to the other one, so it is just… different.. i don’t really know.

what has happened. well i have been playing a lot of Lost Odyssey sence i posted my first Impressions and so far (and i am SOO FAR) it definatly lived past the hype. all the complaining about originality, plot and game play, were all for naught. the story has a few common plot elements especially in the JRPG genre but it definatly stands on its own. and as for gameplay (most especially the combat) call me old fasioned but i like the turnbased fighting. and the rings add interactivity to standard attacks so it is better.

i had a few complaints in my last entry on the subject and in retrospect they weren’t justified. i found the dreams to be one of the highlights of the gameplay, revealing a depth that simply is unable to attain with out the writen word. the were moving, powerful, informative, and entertaining. i pity those who rushed through the game skipping them. and for the camera thing… well a thrid person thing would have been better… i was able to get used to it so it no longer bothers me.

i was a little shocked playing through that the game was moving so fast, i mean i flew through the first 2 disks like nothing then the third was pretty fast too. but i was pleased to find that with all the alternate stuff to do in disk 4 that there has been more than 70hrs of playtime for me… of course i like to take things pretty slow, (getting every item, talking to every person, killing every boss) so i still have the backyard, the seeds and the grandstaff to do, but still this is the first game that took me 40+ in a long time, so i am happy with it(stupid 10 hr action shooters).

well let’s see. i am going to The Ukraine, in july… ya that’s new. i get to learn russian so it is all good. (i would say why i am going to Ukraine but i don’t wanna…)

i think it is time to get back to Lost Odyssey

Lost Odyssey: First Impressions

Wow things sure have been Busy… and by busy I mean I have been trying desperately to get my hands on Lost Odyssey for 360, for like the past week… every waking moment.  However I now have it by shear luck. Someone sold it back to hastings used just before I got there last night and as the shipment is probably lost in Siberia right now, I desided that a used game is 1000000X better than waiting, more. Actually I have no problems with used games… it is just that they might not work as good (ie scratches.) but this copy looked good. I was/is so happy, not as happy as some people who find out of print buffy rule books for sale, but defiantly happier than someone with not quite stolen DnD corebooks in their back pack. (There are stories behind these… and both were last evening…)  I have been meaning to do a review of the new RPG Maker VX which I got the day it came out (the first) but I decided I hold off on that and do a first impressions of Lost Odyssey.

man it sure is crazy. i have decided that while i could think of things to bore the internet with every day, it is too hard to convince my siblings ( who are myspace addicts) to get off the comp long enough for me to write and doc a blog post so i will continue to post 2nd rate material 3-4 times a week, or more if i get a chance…

Video-game pretty cool guy, eh takes my time and doesn’t afraid of anything. On a more serious note I like them, I sure do. And why not. Video games have become a media very adept at getting as story of moral told. Albeit most games don’t used this to their advantage, preferring to be a game where you mindlessly kill hordes of aliens, zombies, puppies, whatever. But hey it’s fun.
